I really am nervous because of my test scores. I'm a great student but horrible test taker. I applied for summer 2012.

Thanks!

I think you are in the ballpark with the high GPA. I think in your case the EC’s and essay will be very important. Last year’s class had a mean SAT of 1960. Your score puts you on the lower side of the score range but not out of the picture.

Your stats look a lot like my son’s gf…she was admitted for Summer 2011. I think you have a really good shot…do you have a hook like First generation college?

Let me just say that your 28 ACT score IS impressive. I would be more proud of that than almost anything else! I received a 27 on the ACT and was accepted to USF and UCF. I am waiting to hear from UF, but I am confident that with the rest of my stats, I will get in. I guarantee that you will, also.

I thought a 28 was pretty good too, but it’s the bottom of the average of accepted freshmen. Looking back through the threads, there were many accepted with 27’s and 28’s last year and many who weren’t. I guess it all boils down to how much they like my essay. I would say it was good but not great. I was accepted to UCF but don’t plan to go there. I don’t know where I will go. It’s hard to go to FSU after all my years of Gator dreaming.

I think you chances for admission will come down to the quality of your essay, EC’s and to a more limited extent where you live. Those living in less populated counties where there are a lower number of applicants may benefit from slightly less competition because UF uses a geographically adjusted process for admission from all of Florida’s 67 counties. Your GPA is excellent and your test scores are right on the lower side of the accepted range.
Good luck.

write a good essay and keep your options open to enter in the summer. You should be fine.
