bump bump bump

i feel you have no chance

are you being serious?

Of course you have a chance but your GPA is a little low for BU..so BU may be a reach for you. It is definitely worth applying though since your SAT's are within BU's acceptance range.
check out: http://www.bu.edu/admissions/apply/class.html
This is the profile of the current freshman class at BU - see for yourself.

The BU website dosen't give the GPA ranges...but Princeton Review has it as a 3.6 average.

ok... i thought it would be more of my target school.

i'm a bit confused now.

thanks seiclan for the constructive criticism.

It may depend upon which program/school you are applying for. I would call BU a "reachy match" as opposed to a true match (due to your GPA). I still believe that you will be accepted though. Your EC's show true dedication. Just remember that it is not a safety for you.

I think you have a pretty good chance at getting in. Remember, Average GPA means average, not minimum. That means there are plenty of people within a standard deviation of 3.6 GPA. While you may be on the low side, your ECs and SAT scores may give you a boost. Make sure you write excellent essays, and if you're still wavering, apply Early Decision II instead of RD.

ok thanks!

i just got my new SAT scores...
750 CR
690 math
540 writing

so combined:
750 CR
710 Math
600 Writing

so with math and CR, 1460!!!!

i hope this increases my chances at BU!

bump bump bump

They take your SAT score from one sitting, so you can't add the best ones from each area together.

you will get into BU, im from boston

I'm sending in my ACT score (28) and SAT II's (they will see my low SAT I score)...will they take my ACT score over my SAT score?

(refering to sarangxhae) really? i don't think so.. i didn't hear that. anyways if i did get it from one sitting, it would still be a 750+690=1440! :)

parikhs... i think they will take your highest one.

Yeah, that score is still good. But for the SAT I, they take the best combined score from one sitting.

Do they take the SAT out of 1600 or out of 2400? I did better if you take CR, WR, and MA together than just CR+MA

I think they take all three now...and if you want to convert new score to old, you have to multiply your new score times .666666

newscore(.666666) = oldscore

or so i thought

Sarangxhae- You are mistaken. BU, as almost every US college, takes the highest scores from any new SAT test (not from only one sitting). So, you should count your score as whichever is highest in a subject. BU is not counting the writing this year but is looking at it (as an SAT 2 since they used to require the SAT 2 writing before the new test came out. Many schools will not combine old SAT scores(pre writing) with the new one however.
