Chances?

I’m currently a junior in high school. I have a 3.9 GPA (unweighted), and get mostly straight A’s. I recently took the PSAT and got a 180 without preparing at all. I’m taking the ACT in April, and I’m aiming for a 30 or higher. I try to take as many honors classes that I can, but the thing is, my school doesn’t offer a single AP class, which I would like to take. They also don’t offer many clubs/organizations. So my extracurriculars consist of the Healthy Youth Coalition (alcohol & drug abuse prevention group), volunteering at the animal shelter and the hospital, and a part-time job (yeah I know, not very impressive). I also have 8 hours of job shadowing at the hospital, which is the max. number of hours you can have in a year, but I’m not sure if that really counts for anything on my college applications.

So, do I have a chance at BU? Or am I way out of my league here…

Thanks.

I forgot to add that I’m also in the top 12% of my class, and I’m working on improving that by the end of this year.

in the end it really depends on your sat/act scores. everyone that posts on these things is always/usually qualified in their academics, gpa, activities, but what will determine if you get in is your scores because thats the most varying factor for everyone. an 1800 sat is fine for psat because you will go up to about a 1900 or 2000 sat so thats a good score. 28 is prob the least score that you can get to be safe. if you get below these numbers and hit 26+ or 1800+ range thats pretty good and itll make what you do IN school even more important. its better to try and have everything match up (like ur scores and grades) so the committee wont be weighing in on one spot of ur app in particular.
