[ *] Where else were you accepted/waitlisted/rejected: Thus far, Colgate, Lehigh, Bucknell Villanova, Loyola and Providence Waitlisted at BC, rejected from UVA (out of state)

I was accepted to Emory under EDII, and I would be reeeally surprised if you weren’t accepted. Your SAT and ACT scores aren’t perfect but I feel like your extracurriculars would make up for them. I really hope you showed a lot of interest in Emory (visited campus, etc) because that would make your chances even better. Good luck!
…But really, how did a school dance raise $150k for cancer?

The event is a tradition at our school and all the kids have to raise a minimum of $50 but most students raise much much more. About 3/4 of the student body attends. We also have local sponsors who donate. I personally raised $1,400. Unfortunately, my family didn’t have the money to travel down to Atlanta, and they don’t interview in my area so I didn’t get to visit, but I emailed an admissions counselor and told them it was my first choice.

That’s really good that you emailed admissions and told them that!
But I have to comment on something… you wrote that your income bracket was $250k+, yet you say that your family didn’t have the money to visit. Interesting.

That’s our income before taxes. We live in an area with a very high tax rate. Plus an older brother in college. by 250+ i mean 250,000 salary. My mom said she wouldn’t spend all that money for 4 plane tickets to Atlanta from upstate Ny unless i was accepted. Her decision, not mine.

“I emailed an admissions counselor and told them it was my first choice.”
Good move.
I’d say more likely than not.
Decisions will out be out in a few days, so don’t stress.

I agree-close call, but my guess is that you’re accepted. If you are wait-listed, don’t despair–send in a letter or email expressing your love for Emory! Good luck!

I just got waitlisted at William and Mary and rejected from Vanderbilt. What do you think that says for my admissions chances at Emory. (I am out of state for William and Mary)

Endiingzz - saw your stats on the NYU thread. You should get into Emory (as long as your essays were relavent and didn’t sound like Emory was your back up plan).

Highschoolgirl- you are borderline for Emory though you should get into Oxford at Emory if you applied. You may still get into Emory, but it is a low reach for you in regular decision.

Wait so a previous thread just said that because of the new dean of admissions, they aren’t looking at interest as much anymore. I’m freaking out…

I was also just rejected from Boston College, but I think that because my essays were on a religion other than Catholicism haha.

But this makes me really worried for Emory. Can someone please chance me? My stats are on another Emory thread. But here they are below

GPA: 3.89 weighted, from Private school in New Hampshire, ranked in top 20

SAT 1: 2040 (1390)
CR:740
M: 650
W: 650

AP: US HIstory (5), Chem (4), English Lang (3)
Senior Load: AP GOV, AP CALC, AP BIO, AP LIT

sat 2: US Hist (770), Chem (670)

EC: President of National Honors Society, VP of AsianAmerican Club, VP of FBLA, Tutoring job at Kumon Math/Reading, 800+ community service hours through religious camps/temple

endingzz, I read your stats on the NYU thread and I think you have a GREAT chance of getting in.
highschoolgirl45, expressing interest is important at any high-ranked university, no matter what anybody posts on CC saying otherwise. Especially when most of everybody applying to Emory already has a really high GPA, really high test scores, a rigorous high school curriculum, good recommendations, and good ECs. All top universities look at an applicant’s demonstrated interest to determine the likelihood of that applicant enrolling there if they’re admitted, because schools like to admit only the applicants who are very likely to attend their school.
