My school sends a great deal of people to Ivies and other top universities each year. This year we had Princeton, Duke, Northwestern, Brown, Middlebury, amongst others. Last year, we had Harvard, Princeton, Yale, Stanford, Penn, Dartmouth, Cornell, Chicago, Vanderbilt, etc.
Essay: I topped in my school in English Language, and I won the award for best essay writer so I think they'll be reasonably good, hopefully.

<p>I'm President of the Drama Club, Lead Role in the Play, done 3 years of debating, won numerous tournaments, shortlisted for national team, MUNs nationally and internationally, won the best english declamation speaker and parliamentary debator awards at school. I've been a regular paid freelancer for a national newspaper for the past year. Chief Editor of literary magazine.

<p>I would think that you would qualify for a merit award. My son received the Presidential Award ( $15,000 / per year). These are his “stats”:</p>

SAT II’s = all over 700
GPA = 3.6 weighted / 4.1 unweighted (an incredible upward trend Jr & Sr year - 4.0 unweighted and 4.7 weighted for Jr & Sr year)
Class Rank = 17/500+ (top 5%)
AP’s = will have competed 6 AP class by graduation. Already has some scores with nothing lower than a 4.
Course Rigor = AP, honors, and a few regular classes freshman & sophmore year.
EC’s = Varsity athlete, NHS, Language Honor Society, Works with disabled children, leadership roles in several clubs, Boys State (elected officer while at Boy’s State), Hospital Volunteer, Model UN…there are some more but I am not remembering everything at this point.</p>
