Chances...

Hey.
I had thought it was like impossible to get into UT from out of state, but my friend just got accepted so it has revived my interest.

please evaulate my chances at UT

SAT: 740 Math, 640 Reading, 670 Writing (2050 total, or 1380 math+reading)

SAT II: Math II: 690, Physics: 620

GPA: 3.44 weighted, I had a low soph year. junior year gpa was 3.8 and senior year so far is 4.2

ive taken medium/hard courseload, 3 APs this year.

1 year soccer, badminton, kickboxing each

vice president of Interact
founder and president of computer club
member of CSF
member of math club

School doesn't rank

I'm a white californian male.

I don't know what major to apply as.

Really good shot...but why bother? California has better public schools.

It has Berkeley, that's really it. And getting into Berekeley is harder than getting into UT.

^You've got to be kidding. Berkeley, UCLA, UCSD, UC-Irvine, UC-Santa Barbara and UC-Davis are all ranked higher by USNWR than UT-Austin. And half the price for the OP.

Ok. It has UC, better?

Well you said "Berkeley that's it" when in fact California has 6 higher ranked public schools.

Its the UC system. There are different campuses. Your statement is sort of misleading.

They are different in many ways though...they are considered different institutions, even if it's the same tax dollars. Just like there's no comparing UVA and William & Mary...just completely different.

haha, you guys/girls crack me up.

so do you really think i can get in?

are different majors impacted differently? I think construction looks interesting, I think that would be in architecture.

and i really want change. yes the UCs are here but thats just it. theyre HERE. i've lived here forever and id really like to get the heck away :)

also, because i will be applying at the tail end of the application season, does that mean my chances are lower?

thanks.

bumpity bumperoo

anybody???

Your gpa is kind of low, but sometimes people you would never expect to get in to UT get in. You have a chance. If I were you I would apply no matter what anyone else says. I wish that I would have applied to a UC school, but I never got around to it.
