Apps are due in less than a week, and I am wondering if I should pay the application fee. Florida sounds like a really good school, but I'm just nervous about whether or not I can get into it.
out of state (white male from Illinois)
Stats are
GPA: 3.5ish UW, 3.7W
SAT: OLD 760/760 - 1520
New : 800 Critical Reading, 790 Math, 680 Writing - 2270
I currently have 6 AP tests taken (5 classes), and by the end of this year it will be up to 9 or 10. I have taken pretty much the hardest courses my school has to offer with the exception of math, where I am one year behind the hardest, but I took two math classes last year to make up for it (ap stats)
My EC's arent astounding (chess team, math team) and i have about 70 hours of volunteer work. The other thing im hoping will help my chances is that I'm a national merit scholar semifinalist, and I know that Florida actively recruits merit scholars, although I haven't recieved any mail from them. I dont know whether or not to be worried, I just dont want fall to come around and find out that im not in college.

You have excellent SAT scores and UF covets NMF's. I think you will have no problem getting in from out of state at all. Your GPA, although low for UF is still within range for them. Definitely apply.

You'd be a guaranteed admission based off of the NMSF status alone, if you think you might want to go then apply, you would get in.

National Merit Semifinalist = In. They pretty much accept anyone with that. Apply. Its a good school to know you have in the bad. (pretty much)

thanks for the advice, i submitted the app today (one of my essays was strong the other one was decent, i was a bit rushed) anyways i hope i get in there, because my other schools i only have a 50/50 chance or worse, and its too late to apply to a super safety school
