I haven't taken any AP classes, could that ruin my chances of getting in?

You better have a great explanation for why and tons of extracurriculars with a great SAT.

How high of an SAT?

Hi,

I am currently a sophomore at USF. Just wanted you to know, I did not take any AP courses in high school. However, I did take some dual credit courses. Just wanted to throw that out there so you know; AP courses will not necessarily make or break you!

Also, my SAT scores were as follows:

Critical Reading: 630
Quantitative: 460
Writing: 570

Just in case you were wondering, I also got a 25 on the ACT and was heavily involved in athletics during high school. I have also heard that the intended major you include on your application can have an effect on your chances, but I have not confirmed that with anyone in admissions - that may just be a rumor.

1800+

You should challenge yourself. AP classes may not be all that, but AP classes, as well as college classes, show that you’re able to think at a higher level.

Just use the grid at http://usfweb2.usf.edu/admissions/pdf/counselor-grid.pdf and the success predictors list at [Academic Success Predictors](http://usfweb2.usf.edu/admissions/academic-success-predictors.html)

Note that having 3+ AP/IB courses or 2+ dual enrollment courses count as success predictors so if you look shaky according to the grid, those ASP’s come in handy to get you in. Not having AP/IB/DE classes also means your GPA is lower, so that’s doubly hard.

Thank you bullsfan11! I feel like I’ll be fine too.
