If anyone would chance me as an out of state applicant for the University of Michigan, it would be greatly appreciated!

GPA - 4.0 UW, 4.4 W
SAT - 2090 (I know, a bit low, but it is still above the average)
Member of NHS, Member of Key Club, President of Photography club, Secretary of SMART Team, Advertiser for Animal Activism Club
Lots of extra-curricular activities (i.e. played soccer for 12 years, won two state-wide competitions in advertising design)
400+ community service hours

My dad also went here, if that helps.

I basically just want to know if it is worth applying as an out of state student. The only thing that worries me is my SAT score.

Thanks so much in advance!!

I’m in basically the same boat as you right now. I have a 2090 SAT as well, but my GPA is lower than yours. I applied EA, hopefully my ECs and essays can compensate for my less-than-perfect. Apply to Michigan, you have a good shot.

Thanks for the encouragement. I hope that it works out for you!!

I think you’d be a pretty solid applicant for UMich. Your stats seem pretty good and even though the SAT isn’t incredibly high, a 4.0 GPA is something they definitely like to see. You’ll be at a slight disadvantage being OOS and not applying EA, but could definitely get accepted.

Nothing wrong with SAT score.

Michigan does not emphasize strandardized tests. Assuming you took challenging classes in high school, your 4.0 should get you in. If you had applied EA, I would have said safe match, but RD, I would say match. Definitely apply, you have a good chance.

Any concerns you might have with your SAT are balanced with your great GPA and community service. It’s never one hundred percent certain, but I think you definitely have a good shot of getting in.
