I only applied to two schools and am pretty much set on OSU. I know admissions are supposed to be tougher this year though, and so I’m a little worried about getting in (especially because of my GPA, which is low). I was wondering if you guys could let me know what you think? Need to know if I should start applying to some safeties.

In-state

2100 SAT (M: 600, CR: 710, W: 790)

GPA: 3.63 W, 3.4ish UW (and a 4.5 first semester of this year, but I won’t be able to send that until end of Jan which might be after the decision)

honors for English, math, science courses, 5 APs

I would say my ECs are pretty decent (work, tennis, leadership/awards in MUN club, volunteering, two other clubs I’ve been in since Freshman year)

Your UW GPA may be too low, although your SAT score is above the mean. You shouldn’t treat OSU as a safety, so absolutely apply to some less selective schools.

you’re fine, i’m out of state (similar stats, but my GPA is a little higher) and i got in. oh, and i barely even had any extracurriculars (part-time job, like 60 hours of volunteer work, and a few clubs that i was in for a year). maybe apply to another school just in case but i’m pretty sure you won’t have any issues getting in, especially since you’re in-state

Thanks guys, I’ll fill out a safety school app then I guess (and hopefully get those first semester grades sent before decision if I can). Congrats on getting in, afrojack – it’s comforting that we have similar stats, I just hope that lower GPA doesn’t kill me.
