Chances?

ha, don't kill yourself. good luck w/ college stuff, if i haven't said that already.

just look at the columbia board, no one knows how you will fare. it seems like superior kids get rejected for some strange reason. so the slogan is "you're qualified, just like the other 80% of applicants". no one is safe, not even high scores like yours. and everyone has a shot, even those 1300s SATs.

Scholarships? What about getting in? Piano is quite a weak instrument if you ask me, and nowadays Hobo's could score a 1600 on the SAT. And being Asian really brings your rating down. As a college counselor of 13 years, I've talked to Ivy admissions officials, and they seem to be getting tired of the old Asian immigration story. Also, many of them are older gentlemen, and don't too much care for Asians. You could try legally changing your last name, and then get accepted, and BAM hit them with your ethnicity. Cornell wouldn't know what hit them. That's my suggestion. Other than that, your chances are decent, but don't cry if you don't get in. Then again, What do I know?

Good Luck
Velocity
Princeton Graduate

Reach:Caltech, MIT(prob could get if you apply early)

Match:
Princeton
Harvard
Stanford

Definetly: Cornell

yea i wish i was like mexican or balck so i could get into college easier...being asian almost sucks

Well, I guess I should report what happened

The 4 UCs I applied to: all in w/ Regents (except UCLA, in w/out Regents)
Caltech: accept
MIT: reject
Princeton: waitlist
Harvard: waitlist
Stanford: accept
Olin: waitlist
Cornell: accept w/ Research Scholar
Harvey Mudd: accept w/ Mudd Merit Award
Cal Poly Pomona: accept w/ Presidential Scholar

Hey, good for you, where will you be going?

Stanford...it was actually my (extended) family's decision lol...I was leaning towards Harvey Mudd...

Alright. I'm never going to college now.

You are an asian with terrific test score - something I don't have.

1600 SAT I freshman year? o_o Crazy!
800s 800s and more 800s. Ah. Die! :0
If MIT rejected you, they're sure gonna reject me.
Princeton waitlisted? sigh No college for me.

Makes me sad.

I'm sorry outburst but Harvard and Princeton are not matches for anyone.

It isn't quite as bad as you think...MIT rejection was most likely because I forgot about the interview and never scheduled it

Princeton & Harvard waitlists: I probably appeared way too nervous and diffident at the interviews (other things probably dragged my app down as well, but this was probably the biggest hit)
