i know it's probably a long shot, but just wanted some input

Your SAT is too low. Retake it. Other things are great! Good job- just work on your SAT.

I like the tour guide position. Try to get some leadership. Being in societies usually doesn't count for much.

Certainly bump up your scores and take a lot of practice tests. I used to be getting 10s on the SAT essays until I realized that every topic could be generalized into one prompt: write about good traits that 3 people have. If you read over the SAT rubric, you realize a lot of it really is subjective: did the essay use outstanding examples, or just excellent ones? My strategy was to choose examples that the readers would be familiar with and pepper the essay with loads of vocab, even if it made it a bit unnatural.

To boost your verbal, study a big vocabulary list, like the one in Barron's SAT books. Remember, you don't have to remember the definition exactly, just enough to pick it out of four words.

yeah i know SAT is too low. i got my score back today and was pretty upset. i totally bombed. on the practice tests i was averaging around 700-720 on math, and 630-650 on verbal. As for the essay, it was the first i had ever written in the SAT style. brush up on my grammar and i think i'm good there. i just need to worry about raising my verbal
