Hi guys, this is my first post~

I am going to start my senior year of high school in about a week and I'm panicking about college! ;___; The thing is that I'm interested in majoring in Graphic Design but I've decided this very late, by the end of my junior year.

I have had a class for about 2 months about basics keys to graphic design such as typography, color schemes, and the color wheel (I'm not sure I learned a whole lot)

Here are my grades so far:
SAT : 1640 (Going to take again this November, don't think I will improve much though)
GPA: 3.7 Weighted 3.5 Unweighted
ACT: Haven't taken (should I take???)
Subject Test: Haven't taken (should I take this too???)
APs: Nothing higher than a 2....I'm a terrible test taker....like TERRIBLE

Right now I'm panicking b/c many schools that I've researched require a portfolio and I am certainly not a great artist. I've only started my FIRST portfolio recently and am trying to keep that going. I don't paint at all so I don't know anything abut watercolors, acrylic paint or any of those things. I have recently discovered different mediums (This is pretty sad, I know). I have never used charcoal or any of those 6B or those kind of pencils, just a regular #2 pencil. So recently I've experimented with pen, color pencils, and I've just ordered a set of pencils so I can try (It may be a little late then).

These are the only drawing I did so far after attempting to get something done.

First : Self Portrait (Pencil)
Second : Observation: Scissor (Color pencil)
Third: Observation: Camera (Really bad....I stink with pen)

I know that some schools have certain portfolio requirements and that most of them want observational pictures. Can anyone tell me what types of drawings would be good for observational drawings? Should I try to do something related to my intended major (Should I try to draw something like a flower from observation and try to make a logo out of it?)

The school I'm aiming for right now is RIT.
I'm also considering applying to schools such as Pratt, RISD, CMU, and FIT. (some of these schools are beyond my level)
Are there any other schools with good graphic design programs in NY? Some that don't require portfolio?

What are my chances of getting in these schools? I'm not really confident if I would even get accepted to any of these because of my lack in art/design skills. Any advice??? :/

I live in NYC and I prefer staying in the state.

Thank you for reading all this mumbo jumbo if you did !
