Chances?

Northeastern University is my dream school and I would like to know if anybody familiar with the institution could give me an idea of my chance of admittance. I would like to major in Chemical Engineering.

I go to one of the most academically renowned public high schools in the nation (we are consistently in the top 10 in the country). I take the most challenging courses available at one of the most challenging schools. My senior year courses are as follows:

AP/IB Physics HL
AP/IB Chemistry SL
AP/IB English HL
IB Contemporary History
AP Environmental Science
AP Statistics
AP Calculus AB
IB Theory of Knowledge
AP Microeconomics

My classes in previous years look similar with the exception of 4 years of IB French which I completed in my junior year and received a 5 on the SL exam (my weakest subject).

My GPA is rather low and is my biggest concern as it is a 4.1 weighted. My SAT score is a 2130 (770 reading, 660 math, and 700 writing). I took two subject tests (though I've heard they are not considered for NEU), 650 Math II and 700 Physics. I am in the National Honor Society, National Science Honor Society, Math National Honor Society, and English National Honor Society.

My strength is in my extracurriculars. I am a 4 year starting quarterback and captain for the football team as well as a 3 year starting pitcher, middle infielder, and captain for the baseball team. I am particularly good at baseball (for which I was nominated All-Conference my junior year) and I am interested in possibly walking on at NEU. I have also accrued over 100 hours in community service and I have consistently received 4's and 5's on the several AP's I have taken.

I think my essay is strong and I was wondering what you guys think. Thanks!

You seem like a pretty strong candidate. It’s hard to predict, but I think you’ve got a really good shot. Your weighted GPA of 4.1 is only slightly below the 75th percentile of 4.2.

You are likely to get in, in my opinion.

Dude seriously what are you missing I mean I’m no expert but you’re taking he most challenging curriculum possible…you have the etra curriculars done your sat is well above the average freshman enrolled, and you said yourself you have a strong essay. If you re worried about your gpa I wouldn’t be. As nano said your almost at the 75 percentile, combined with every thing else I don’t see you not getting in

You’re definitely in dude

similar stats and got in honors

Thanks for the replies! I am also from Florida, so I do not know if that affects my EA decision or not

Also, I have been offered the opportunity to take AP Physics C: Mechanics my second semester to replace AP Microeconomics. When I took the tour at NEU, I remember the speaker talking about the value of having a business background/minor for engineers. Which should I take?
