Hi! I'm going to apply to this college this fall, and I'm wondering what chance I have with these stats:

3.76 GPA (It's weighted, but my class doesn't unweight. It would probably be a 3.6-3.65 unweighted.)

1 AP class sophomore year (received a 4), 2 this year, and 2 next year
-28 ACT score (30 English 29 Math 8 Writing)
-MN resident
-African-American
-Decent amount of extra curriculars (Key club since sophomore year, did Track and Field as well as the Speech team this year, and will be in Student Council senior year)
-60+ volunteering hours
-No class rank
-Letter recommendations will be probably be finished in October

So what chance do I have? Thanks!

Express interest - fill out the “request info” form, read the brochures they send you, then email the counselors with questions that are NOT answered in the brochures.
Your chances are rather good, it’s a match, so 50-50 (perhaps a bit more).
Download the CommonApp Supplement right away and start thinking about the supplementary essays, those will be important and you don’t want to wait till Fall to work on them; have at least your first draft done for each of them by summer’s end.

@MYOS1634 will the Common App supplement essay topics already be “live” for the 2014-15 application year? I thought the CA would be updated as of July 1 (though I could definitely be wrong…this is our first time through the app process).

The essays aren’t supposed to change as far as I know. You can already copy them and start thinking about them, and of course start working on the “general” common app essay.
