<p>Since Engineering majors are very competitive, you want to have your Stats above the average for a good chance at acceptance. UCSB does emphasize the essay portion of the application, so you want to submit some really outstanding essays.</p>

<p>BTW: UCSB does not offer Software Engineering as an Undergraduate Major. It is only available on the Graduate level.<br>
You should put down a less competitive alternate major in case you cannot get into your first choice major.</p>
