I'm mainly concerned about my gpa, I come from an underprivileged public school and have a 3.64 unweighted and a 3.71 weighted, but am in about the top 15% of my class of 360.
I have a lot of volunteer hours, am in 3-4 clubs and national honor society. I have placed 2nd and 4th at my state HOSA, qualifying for nationals. I've taken a couple college level health field courses too, along with being CNA certified through a 6 week summer course I took at a technical college in my city.
I've only applied to two colleges so far and I'm trying to vary my options, would this be a good choice for me to consider applying to?

Whats your major?

@mikenan15 I’d like to eventually get into nursing, but at uiuc the nursing program doesn’t start till your junior year, so I would apply for liberal arts & sciences

I would say pretty good chance

Not sure if they want her stats for OOS but you a an ideal fit for UIUC LAS. Madison has a great nursing program unfortunately they are so packed know someone who was denied into the nursing program this year with 3.6 so she will try again and will graduate in 5 years. UW picks WI residents more so than IL.

@glasssculpture yeah I applied to uw madison for nursing, however like you said their nursing program is highly competitive. Only 20-25 freshmen are admitted yearly, so I’m not anticipating being accepted into their nursing program right off the bat, plus their 4 year graduation rate is also very low which is why I’m looking into other schools too.
