Chances?

Hey y’all, I’m currently a junior, and I’m starting to think about colleges. I was wondering about my chances of getting into Carnegie Mellon University early decision next year

Unweighted GPA: 3.73
Weighted GPA: 4.19

4.0 throughout junior year so far

Extracurriculars:
Youth Community Service Club (events coordinator)
Future Business Leaders of America Club (vice-president)
National Honor Society
Mock Trials (vice-president)

UC Berkeley Electrical Engineering Lab Internship

JV Baseball Captain in 9th Grade
Varsity Baseball in 10th and 11th Grade

32 on ACT
800 in Math SAT II
780 in Chemistry SAT II
800 in Physics SAT II

Currently in AP Calculus BC and AP Physics C as a junior

Qualified for USA Physics Olympiad semi-finals
Distinguished Honor Roll (99% percentile) for AMC 10/12 since 8th grade
Qualified for AIME 8th, 9th, 10th, and 11th grade

432 hours of community service

One last thing: I play violin, piano, and guitar, and I am quite advanced in all three. No awards for any of the instruments but I can definitely submit an art supplement for all three. I really like music :stuck_out_tongue:

That record is honestly impressive. I think you have a pretty solid shot at getting in. Good luck (:

BTW: Your un-weighted GPA could use some work but overall, I think you’re good to go.

awesome!! Thank you @smoothies7

is there a number of AP classes/tests to take to be qualified for Carnegie Mellon University? By the end of the year i will have taken seven AP tests and six AP courses :stuck_out_tongue:

not to mention i pull hella girls

Ok totally kidding but thanks @smoothies7

No prob & I don’t really have much info on that particular university but it’s not the amount of ap classes that should matter but rather the quality - like how well you do.

If you are applying SCS then the ACT is probably a little low improve it otherwise you are set.

CMU: Reach (SCS is a higher reach obviously)

nah i think i’m going for engineering; not sure what i wanna do yet

Early decision is risky. I’d apply regular decision, work on GPA and make sure to visit campus and interview there.
