Other:
I’m Asian- I was adopted though
Went to Cornell Summer College for 3 weeks and took Genius and Madness in Literature earned an A and college credit on Cornell transcript and a Cornell professor recommendation. Fell in love with Cornell during this!
Did a study abroad project in China on the population and the global effects on the world
Some adversity: Medical problems after being adopted, had to have surgery, faced many injuries in gymnastics, currently recovering from surgery on elbow
Shadowed a General Surgeon
My main passion is gymnastics I’ve been doing it since I was 3 and practice 4 days a week for 4 hours

I want to major in Biology and Society at Cornell and will either apply to College of Human Ecology or CALS not sure which one yet. I want to be a doctor however I really like and excel in the humanities which is why I have bio and society in mind. I will also be doing Early Decision.

If not Cornell, University of Michigan is my other top choice!

Thanks!!! I actually have pretty low self confidence in my abilities so I’ve been thinking that Cornell was just off the list because I could never get in. After writing all this I started to think maybe I have a chance…?

bump no one??

I’d say you have a 40% shot of getting in during the ED round. Have you taken/will you be taking calculus? I highly recommend it regardless of which department you are applying to, as the vast majority of the applicant pool will have taken it.

I have not… math is the one class that I can’t take honors or AP unfortunately. At my school I would have to shown I was “gifted” in math in 5th grade to be on that track and I wasn’t nor am I now lol

You should get your ACT score up, or the higher equivalent on an SAT. Also, it will probably look good that you attended the summer program at Cornell, plus an advantageous recommendation! Even still, don’t get your hopes up on just one or two very selective schools; still have some reasonable/selective backups that will provide an equally amazing experience and education

Thank you!! I also have Dayton, Wisconsin, Binghamton, and Villanova in mind!

I’d say you have pretty great chances, good luck!

What do you mean you are Asian but were adopted. Did you grow up in an Asian country or the US? If the US why do you say you are Asian? You have a long list of EC’s. But at this point they don’t hang together to paint a picture of what you are all about. I’d actually try to impose a structure on them. Get rid of tangential ones. Colleges dont’t love dabblers. They want to see you have a focus.

I am literally Asian, my race is Asian butI was adopted and I grew up in the US. But I’m still Asian…

@eandreano1 You have pretty high chances to get in! I think to further increase your chances, see how well you do on the SAT or try to increase your score on the ACT. Other than that, you’re doing really good!

I think you have a pretty good chance of getting in… You should consider early decision if Cornell is your “ultimate dream”
