Weighted: 4.7
Rank: 51/557 (top 10%)
SAT: 2120 (670 reading, 800 math, 650 writing)
ACT:31
10 AP exams, 4 and 5s on all

ECs:
Varsity Orchestra
Key club secretary
Orchestra librarian
Academic Octathalon regionals (1st place in math and essay, 3rd overall )
Texas All Region and All State Orchestra
Regularly volunteer at my church
150+ volunteer hours
Many great recommendation letters from teachers

Also I’m in very good shape.

Academically, you are strong. However, you need to focus on getting some key leadership positions this year, as that appears to be a missing link. Volunteerism is great, however you need to find areas where you can be in charge of others. I don’t think the secretary and librarian positions will hold much weight in their scoring system. How about team sports? Boys/Girls State would be a good thing to strive to attend, as well.

I’ve sat in on several congressional boards. Clearly, you have the academic side covered no question. West Point is looking for 60 percent academics with the balance being leaders / athletes. An Army Officer needs to run in front of his or her platoon and potentially lead in combat conditions a group of 40 soldiers right out of college. To some extent how you carried yourself in the congressional interview would matter but the USMA admissions staff will only have your file in front of them
