Chances?

Hello all,

I am a rising junior at a public high school in SoCal. Since I am approaching my final two years at HS, I have been giving more thought about my future (colleges/major/jobs/etc). Ever since I was a freshman, West Point has been my dream school. Having the goal of getting accepted to West Point, I have worked diligently in school and tried to do the same with ECs and community. So could you guys do me a favor and chance me, please? (I’ll try to keep it concise)

GPA: 4.0 UW & 4.58 cumulative W
Rank: 1 of 565
SAT: none (I plan to focus on the ACT)
ACT: none yet but am going to take the Sept. ACT (avg practice test scores are 32-34s)
SAT II: I have no clue if I need to take these if I do well on the ACT (if I need to, I plan to take Math II, Physics, and one more)
APs: my school doesn’t offer AP classes until junior year. So this year I’ll be taking: AP English, APUSH, AP Physics, AP Computer Science, Honors Pre-Calc, and Spanish 4.

ECs (this is where I kind of lack at):

-Almost an Eagle Scout; have been the Senior Patrol Leader for 2 1/2 years
-Varsity tennis for 3 years (including this coming year) and I am going to be the captain this year and next year. Also made All-League
-Debate club: I don’t really hold a position (our debate club isn’t that intense)
-Looking to see if I am eligible for the NHS
-Not sure how Boys State works, but I’m going to ask my counselor about that

I know what I need to do in terms of the CFA (Candidate Fitness Assessment) and the nominations. So I have those under control. I feel like if I start practicing for the CFA now, I can totally pass it.

So guys, what are my chances as of right now, and what I could do more to improve my chances? Personally, I think I need to get involved with the community more and have more leadership positions, but I would like to hear your thoughts

Thank you everyone and I hope I didn’t bore you guys, lol.

Academics no issues. You don’t have SAT or ACT in hand, but it’s highly unlikely your score will be an issue. Lead something, a sports team a club. Find out what your congressman’s process is for interviewing applicants. Reach out to your local volunteer Field Force rep. They are graduates in your area who volunteer to meet with and basically coach applicants through the admisdions process. Apply to next summer’s SLE in January when slots open
