Hello,

I made a chance thread a while ago. I took the SAT’s again this October and did OK.

This is my previous thread:

I am a Pennsylvania student (going to be senior)

I don’t exactly what I want to do, but here is my top 4:

GPA:
Overall for my 3 years is 4.33/4.00

All A’s in every class so far except in Honors Physics (Ap Mechanics C) [88%]

SAT: 1890 (first sitting) 690M, 610 CR, 590 W (Essay 9)
1970 (second sitting) 680 M, 600 CR, 690 W (Essay 9)
Plan to take it again in October (aiming for ATLEAST 2100 because PrepScholar guarantees 240+ increase)

Awards:
National Honors Society
Westinghouse Science Honors Institute
FBLA State qualifier (3 times, 8th place in event Junior year)
Department of Energy Science Bowl (1st in division once, 2nd in division twice)

Extracurriculars: [I am putting 4 years for things that I will be doing as a senior as well) Varsity Tennis (4 years) (Captain) Science Club (4 years) (Treasurer Sophomore, VP Junior) Chess Club (4 years) (part of chess team [top 5 players in club] that won 1st place in tournament with other schools)

A TON more clubs that I don’t want to list right now.

Hospital: around 200 hours [guide visitors to rooms]
Temple: 50 hours [teach kids about Indian culture and history]

Recs:
I think they will be pretty good. All of my teachers like me.

SO,
SAT scores came out today.
Composite: 2120 (680 CR/ 740 M/ 700W- 10 Essay)

I plan on taking Subject Tests now in December

Although… I am quite disappointed. I thought I would improve my more than 10 points in writing… I usually got >750 on practice tests… oh well…

Class size actually dropped: 2/293

My parents think I should add a couple more Ivy leagues on the list (obv RD as most require subject tests). What do you think?

Superscored SAT is only around 2130 if I did my math right. That really isn’t high enough to have a competitive chance at Ivy Leagues. You need at least a 2200+ to have an average chance, which isn’t very high already.

Actually, there would be no superscoring necessary because those subsections are the highest from all the tests I took, so it would still be 2120. However, thanks for your input.

Any more comments?

Well, based on what I know from your list, UChicago looks like a reach, JHU looks like a high match.

For UChicago, a 1420/1600 (they don’t consider writing) wouldn’t put the school out of reach. It’s below the 25th percentile, which isn’t good, but you have a shot.
