I'm a Junior at Louisiana State University, majoring in Political Science and Mass Communications. I'd like to know my chances at getting into a law school now that I have decided to pursue this path. I have a 3.69 GPA, I'm an URM, but I haven't taken the LSAT yet. The reason why I'm sweating being able to get into any decent law school is because of poor grades in the fall semester of my freshman year. I had received a grade letter of D and F in two courses and every semester since that semester I've gotten a 4.0. I'm interested in the University of Minnesota Law School, but I'm afraid that these two grades on my transcript will just have my application thrown out. :( Assuming I receive the appropriate LSAT score, are my hopes of getting in just pipedreams or am I still in contention?

Penrolio: you're fine. You had a rough first semester, then straightrened out. That record plus the overall fine GPA will be what makes you shine. Just do your best for a very good LSAT score - do the preps, whatever's needed.

Here's a link to a site that gives you raw data on law school admissions (25th and 75th percentiles for LSAT scores and GPA's of admitted applications, percentage admitted, and other info) for all ABA-accredited law schools:
