Chances?

I want to go in for pharmacy, here are my stats:

GPA: about a 3.3 but by the end of this year (junior year) it should be around 3.5

SATs: 1750(1166) math= 570, reading=600, and writing=580 I'm going to retake them 2 more times

APs: 3 in senior year, but i've been in honors science/math since sophmore year

I did track in freshman year and I'm planning on helping out in a dentist's office and a pharmacy before i graduate

I'm out of state if that helps any

Thanks!

anyone.. have any suggestions?

honestly, doesn't look too good...

Rutgers as a whole is pretty accepting. I remember reading 61% acceptance rate somewhere. I think as long as you have a B average and SATs at least in the 1100s you have a shot, but that's just my opinion. It also depends on the college you want to go to because are easier to get into than others. I know School of Nursing and School of Pharmacy are difficult.

Also I had to take a month off out of the country last year because of a family emergency so my last year's grades are low, does that help/hurt any? Will they perhaps look less seriously at my sophmore year's grades because of this?

and it should be harder for me then, because I'm applying to the School of Pharmacy.

I have got to be brutally honest. Your stats are just too low to get into rutgers pharmacy out of state.

I kinda had a feeling that was the case anyway.. thanks

What if I bump up my SAT score? will that help any..?

I dont think your chances are too good personally.

These are my stats:

2080 SAT using best scores - (740M, 660CR, 680W)
M + CR = 1400
2040 SAT using single sitting - (740M, 620CR, 680W)

205 PSAT - Commended for National Merit Scholarship

4.1 GPA Soph, should be around 4.2-4.3 after junior

A.P Stat - Soph
A.P. Language and Comp - Junior
A.P. Calc AB - Junior
A.P. Calc BC - Senior
A.P. English - Senior
A.P. Chem - Senior
A.P. Gov - Senior
A.P. Human Geo - Senior

Tennis Team, National Honors Society, Poetry Club, Spanish Club are most notable

And lastly when i apply i will have had a full year of pharmacy experience - work as a tech right now in a hospital.

Hate to be brutal but personally i dont think my chances are amazing and your stats are lower then mine. Best hint ive got is to get your applications in as early as possible. As im sure you know Rutgers does rolling admissions so the better you get them in the better chance you have.

oh wow! I'll probably have no chance of getting in if you (PaRiAn) don't get in

Could I possibly go to rutgers with an undeclared major then later on try and apply to their pharmacy program?

i heard its harder to get into pharmacy during your college years than it is just straight out of high school. i might be wrong.

I think you're right..at least that's what I've heard, too. It's supposedly harder to transfer into Rutgers Pharm. than to get in as a freshman. I'm a current high school senior and was admitted to Rutgers Pharmacy. I will attend if I don't get in off of the waitlist at the University of Chicago. Here are my stats if you wanna compare:

In State Applicant
SATs: 1530 (old), 2230 (new)
SAT IIs: Math 2C-780; Chemistry-730
APs: Chemistry-5; Calculus AB-4
GPA: 3.631 (unweighted on a 4.0 scale)

Extracurriculars: Varsity Baseball (3 years), Varsity Cross Country (2), 80+ hours of volunteering, tutoring

Awards and Stuff: National Honor Society, National Merit Finalist

I don't know if being in-state helps for the Pharmacy program. Good luck.

im pretty sure in state does help which means getting in out of state is like redonkuloulsey difficult.

you don't have a chance in hell of getting into Rutgers Pharmacy. Rutgers Pharm is one of the best in the nation. You have a pretty s h i t t y GPA and SAT score. Improve both by quite a bit for a decent chance. For SATs, I would say you need a 2050+ and for GPA, 3.7+ .

thanks everyone for your answers, they were all helpful =)

how much harder would it be for me to apply during college?

Just apply for god's sake and see what happens. Do it before the priority deadline, write the essay, etc; whatever you can. Regardless of what people say here, just give it a shot. you never know.

yeah, of course, I'm Definatly applying, even if my chances are bad, I'm just curious to see what my chances might possibly be
