Chances?

Hi everyone!
Do I have any chances at being accepted to Skidmore? I plan to apply ED II and study social work.

GPA unweighted: 3.35
GPA weighted: 3.57
ACT: 31 superscored, 30 without superscoring
EC’s: GSA, Diversity Club, and a ton of outside of school volunteer work, especially with kids with special needs
2 AP’s junior year and plan to take 2 AP’s senior year (Psych, English Lang. & Comp, Environmental and Stat)
Accelerated in math and science (my school doesn’t have honors classes)
My school does not rank, but it’s very well known to be competitive and one of the best in the country

the GPA’s are only based on freshman and sophomore year, junior year hasn’t been accounted for but I am getting straight A’s

Also, how is Skidmore with financial aid? Do they generally meet full need?

Thanks!

PS - I forgot to mention I am taking a college class in special education at LIU

Why apply ED2 and not ED1? And to answer the financial aid question, for us skidmore was very generous! ED2 can be a little more competetive.

fyi - no such thing as an ACT superscore. only done on the SATs.

I think you have a chance, but GPA a little low. But also depends on what area you are interested in. Sounds like you are interested in education. I don’t know how that ranks at Skidmore.

@Britsmum, one may apply to ED2 if Skidmore isn’t their first choice. Perhaps they applied EDI somewhere else and got rejected.

Yes my daughter applied ED 2 but it was a nail biter once we found out how many apps had been received and knowing how many they let in ED. We waited because skidmore was not needs blind and we were concerned about a rejection based solely on that and considered applying to the need blind D1 schools that were recruiting my daughter. But she would have one of that, she is in love with skidmore so we worked with the financial aid office and they encouraged us to apply. They were very generous!!!

Should have said "she would have NONE of that.

I think your scores are right in line with Skidmore. I know nothing about their social work program (I am a social worker so I might read up on it lol) but they were very generous with us as well. Funny story…I knew that originally D had Skidmore on her list of applications but I had forgotten about it (she applied to 19 schools). We had had a discussion about my thoughts they would not give her enough $$ and that she should shelf it and so it wasn’t on my radar. I was very surprised when the acceptance arrived because I assumed she didn’t apply and secondly that they came in the best financially of all the schools including in-state.

Thanks everyone! I have to do some more research on it.

@Britsmum - because of the financial aid aspect. We won’t hear about our FAFSA financial aid package until the spring, and I want to be able to hear from all my others schools and see if I get any scholarships first. If I apply ED I and get accepted I have to withdraw all my other applications without knowing the financial aid package. Then if they don’t give me enough aid I’m screwed. But the financial aid office was helpful?

Very.

I sent all our financial info and asked for a peeress. They said they could not guarantee anything but encouraged my daughter to apply.

@eiknarf actually some schools do superscore the ACT. Don’t think Skidmore is one of them, which may be what you were referring to, but several other schools do.

thanks @mylanda. Too late for my D since she only took the ACT once. But I’ll store that info for my other 2 kids.
