Chances?

Sorry if I am being obnoxious with several of these “Chance Me?” posts. This is just a quick one, as I am curious as to how exactly UT Austin’s admission process works. I’ve perused the forum and found out that UT Austin has their own way of finding GPA and stuff like that I am not really sure about. And also UT Austin focuses on class rank more than anything else? Is this a misunderstanding?

Anyways:

Junior @ a public high school in SoCal
Asian Male

GPA 4.0 UW/4.67W
Class Rank 1 of 400ish
ACT: (C31 E33 M32 R26 S33) (C30 E28 M33 R28 S29)
PSAT: 1400/1520
Will have taken a total of 7 AP Classes throughout 4 years of high school

This is all I could think of right now… And I also have heard about the presidential scholarship which is full tuition? Please correct me if I am wrong. Do I have a chance of attaining that scholarship? Thank you all very much in advance!

@clichescreenname it is the Forty Acres Scholars program that gives a full ride scholarship. The Presidential Scholars program gives a scholarship of $20,000 which is $5,000 per year for four years. You can find details on each of the scholarships at www.utexas.edu Good luck!

Acceptance to the university would also depend upon your intended major. Some majors, engineering and CS, are very difficult to get into without top stats - close to perfect math scores. Give it a try but have back up plans.
