Chances!!!??

I've been reading a lot of people's chances and after weeks of comparing myself to all these people I finally decided to register and have my own chances evaluated...I'm scared...but someone PLEASE give me some advice!!!

GPA: 5.03 out of 6 (I think) and I hope someone knows what this means cuz I don't

SAT: CR-570 (I have no idea how that happened), Math-670, Writing-720
(I'm definitely retaking them, I can definitely get CR up to 650 at least--do they look at the highest for each section??)

SATII: Hebrew-630, MathII-hopefully in 700s

APs: English Language-B+, hopefully 4 or 5, Psych-A, almost surely a 5

Next year's APs: English Literature, Spanish, Calc AB, Eco/Gov

Honors Spanish for 2 years

My extracurriculars are ok but not great, my SAT score will improve and I thought I had a really good GPA (am I completely wrong??)

I was wondering about schools near New York or Boston or about like up to 4 hours away from NY...

Manhattan College-safety, I can go for free cuz my mom teaches there
Brandeis-reach I think, but I REALLY REALLY wanna go there!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! (The point of me registering for CC was to mostly see if you all thought I had a chance here)
Amherst-big reach
Clark
SUNY Binghamton
Sarah Lawrence

So.. opinions?? suggestions?? any advice?? how do my Brandeis chances seem??

Manhattan College- safety
Brandeis - reach (maybe a match ED)
Amherst- big reach (like your said)
Clark- safety (I'm assuming your refering to the one in the MA, not WA)
SUNY Binghamton -reach (very numbers based)
Sarah Lawrence -match

Do you live in California?

No, I live in New York
and yes I meant the Clark in MA

wow..thanks for answering so fast!
any ideas on how my GPA is??

anyone else? plzzz!!

We can't assess your GPA without knowing class rank. I max GPA at your school is a 6.0, a 5 something may not be very high. Colleges put your grades in context of your school and how you compare there.

My school says it doesn't give a rank, but my guidance counselor said something about me being high in the second quintile or something. There are like 200 people in my grade.

Also, with SATs, do colleges look at the highest score on each section if I take it twice? or do they count both equally, take the highest total, or average them? or do they all do different things? anyone know what Brandeis does?

Thanks

anyone?
if it helps, my guidance counselor said today that a 5.03/6 is like a 4/4 (or at least a very high 3), since in our crazy gpa system its impossible to get a 6/6

***, theres a SAT II for HEBREW?!? I never knew that.

Hopefulbob, that makes NO sense. Anyone getting straight As in your harest classes would have the 6.0. I've never seen a school where that didn't happen.

It makes sense. My school doesnt offer honors or AP classes in every subject every year. An A+ in a non-honors or AP class gets you a 5. This 5, at best, is factored into the total, making it impossible to get a perfect 6.

yeah. i got to the same school as hopeful bob. The highest anyone could possibly get is a 5.5 or 5.7. Our school has a really screwed up system that i will never understand.
