If you really want to gain admission, you need a varsity sport, preferably 2-3. So, join random sports that you can definitely letter in next year. Fencing, etc.??? ND wants athletes. If you are a legacy or a donor, that obviously also helps. From what I see, you look like a long shot.

you have good numbers--just make sure your essays and recs are good and i think you have a good chance

I think you have a really good shot. I had very similar grades, class, and activities and I got in. I scored a 32 on the ACT but i was 32/307. About the varsity sports im sure its a bonus but its not a big deal. I had JV basketball and JV golf but that was it. I would say being an officer in clubs balances out not doing varsity sports. Good Luck

A varsity sport definitely helps, but it isn't a necessity. My daughter played indoor soccer in a rec league for four years - not even a school sport - but she still got in. Being really well-rounded in your activities is more important, I think.

I agree with the sports comments, I am not sure where NDfreak got that but I have several friends that didn't play a varsity sport and got into Notre Dame. You do need to be active but if you are active then it won't hurt you I don't think. ND just seems to like athletic kids but it isn't required by any means.

Overall I think you have a good shot. Good luck!

You def have a great shot, besides for ur sports and the fact that i went to public school your stats loook just like mine and I got in EA. You don't need a varsity sport or a school sport at all. I've been doing karate (totally not affiliated with my school) since i was 5 and that seemed to do me well.

That talk about sports isn't necessarily true. I didn't play any HS varsity sports. I did play non-school affiliated lacrosse and rugby and I still got in. Sports will help but not necessarily more than other things.
