very good chance :D

"What are my chances and what needs the most improving?"

make sure u prepare for math2c and physics SAT II, and get higher than your predicted scores. keep those AP grades up, and improve if possible... dats all... otherwise you still stand a good chance

sat II's really arent that important...i got accepted to CIT for civil engineering with a 650 in mathI and a 600 in physics (i'm not joking, i just didnt feel like studying for them)

CMU's acceptance strategy depends less on statistics and more on the applicant.

Acceptance into Carnegie Mellon varies (greatly in some cases) on which school and/or major you want to pursue. It looks like you're very much interested in either MCS or CIT (science and engineering school respectively), and I think you have a good shot at each, especially if you apply ED. Good luck!

Hey guys thx for all the comments. I just took the physics one and I'm pretty sure I got over 750. How much does that help in comparison to my originally predicted 700?

+50 points on a SAT II is great but your chances are still pretty much the same.

Apply ED with good essays and I don't see you getting rejected at all.

Good chances for RD too; but depends more on your essays and a bit of luck.

I can't apply ED, or else I cannot compare packages. So is the discrepancy betweeen applying RD and ED that big?

Probably a 5-20% increase depending on fit and recommendations/essays.

I didn't see your economic situation so you should probably apply RD.

You may also want to ask the office because ED applicants usually get what they deserve in aid and in my experiences Carnegie Mellon will throw money at them or let them out of the binding ED. You should do a little searching and weigh your options before you commit.

I think your chances are good even if you do RD so perhaps you should just work on your essays/recommendations a bit more and get in that way.
