<p>good i am in a very similar position (chicago, competitive school, similar scheduale, 2210 sat, 3.7 unweighted, sat 2 of 780, 680, 750, and many ecs) From what i have heard from vandy people and my counsler, i have a very good chance of admittance. i think vandy values test scores more than some other top schools, so that will help us (we are above the top 75%) and we dont like in the south (diversity).</p>

<p>Actually, no. Vandy did not emphasize test scores and really, really tried to look at each applicant holistically, which needless to say required significantly more effort. The admissions dean, who unlike many of his peers, was cognizant that behind each applicant was a real person. The NEW admissions dean this year, however, seems like he'll be pretty hardcore. good luck.</p>

<p>(The old admissions dean was recruited by another school that fit him better. A small liberal arts college where he had administrative responsibilities so that he could participate in influencing the direction of the school.)</p>

i would say given his background from public u that he'd be overboard the other way to prove he's up to the task.</p>

<p>Hardcore doesn't necessarily mean he'll pay more attention to test scores. He's not going to go overboard in either direction, regardless of where he came from. Based on his interview after being introduced as the new dean, he appears to have a very singular focus: to improve vanderbilt quickly...and be pretty hardcore about it. Also, princeton review is a joke.</p>
