<p>It looks like you have a good shot anyway, but with your URM status your chances look quite good. If you decide NU is for you, let them know you're interested as soon as possible. NU puts a lot of weight on demonstrated interest, so go for a visit if you can and be sure you fill out the card. </p>
<p>Unlike some schools, applying early really can make a difference at NU. They are in competition with other top schools for students, and are on the look-out for those who want NU from the start as opposed to those who see it as an ivy safety.</p>
<p>Also, judging by the friends my daughter has made this last year, character is important. Write great honest essays, to help them see who you are.</p>
