-Great recommendations
-I have already visited three times and had a great interview
-Intend on applying Early Decision
-Intended Major: Business Administration

my chances at Bucknell??

I'd say that you are a perfect match for Bucknell. You should have little trouble getting in as an early decision student. Due to your intended major of business administration, a highly competitive choice, regular decision could go either way depending on the other applicants. Go for early decision and consider yourself lucky that you know which school you really want to attend. Good luck senior year.

chrissy-

i agree with snajean. you are a solid match for bucknell regular decision, which means you are in good shape if you apply early. the 'little trouble' phrase doesnt sit with me particularly well, but i essentially agree with it; ill be mildly surprised if you arent accepted early.

good luck! and if you have any questions for a very recent bucknell grad, feel free to ask away.

Your GPA and courseload is great, but your SAT scores may hurt you for this reason: Bucknell, from what I have heard from their admission officers, are not looking at the writing section of the SAT. Without writing your SAT composite is 1280, which is below Bucknell's average SAT for the class of 2010 which has a n average score of about 1350. If I were you I would try to get your SAT scores (minus writing) to around a 1320 if you can because your grades and courseload should easily get you into Bucknell if you are close to their range in SAT's.

Do you think that Bucknell admissions will automatically throw out my application after seeing that my SAT scores are lower than the average? or they will consider the amount of interest I have shown in the school along with my course load more? What I want to know is how important is it that I raise my scores by 40 pts., because it has definately been a long, difficult road just to get a 1280.

the average what... sat score of enrolled students from the last class (the 2010 enrolled student range is likely to be 1230-1410)? i guess admissions could do it, but i doubt everyone admitted in 2011 is going to have a 1320+. fact is, only about 2/3rds of students with 1500s get into bucknell every year, and i have an unhooked friend who got in with an 1170 (and similar grades, slightly better ecs than yours). sats are important, but as is said so often, theyre but one part of the application. and the rest of yours is very good.

like i said before, i wouldnt be shocked if you got deferred and subsequently rejected. i wouldnt be terribly surprised, either. but you appear to be a solid applicant who has chosen the right calibre of school to which to apply early, and as such your chances of early acceptance are good.

if you dont think you can raise your sats much with another chance, dont bother. likewise if its going to take endless hours of prep for 40 points. do something better with your time, craft a fantastic essay... and dont put off starting your rd apps. people get caught in that trap far too often, and its a far better feeling to not need them than to which you had started them earlier.

but again, good luck and ray bucknell!
