All of my classes in high school were as accelerated as possible (honors, GT, and/or Pre-AP).

(Junior and Senior courses farther down; I just wanted them separated by schools ^_^)

I originally went to a 4A high school in a small town. My class started out with about 500 students. When I left after my sophmore year, it was down to about 200. I was ranked 5 with a GPA of around 3.8 before I left to a boarding school to finish my last 2 years of high school. It is not that great a of a school; most of the people who actually graduate stay in state.
The boarding school I now attend (going to be senior in Fall 2006) is the Texas Academy of Mathematics and Science where we are basically University of North Texas students. First semester I believe I took 16 hours (Academy set our courses for the first semester), where I made a 3.8125 GPA with one B. This past semester I made 4 B's with 18 hours, with a GPA of 3.444. My cumulative GPA right now is 3.617 (please note this is only for TAMS/UNT). This should improve to around 3.7-3.8 by the time I graduate. Please note that TAMS does not rank, and therefore the 10% rule does not count.

I am doing research right now with one of the professors at the University. A paper should be published in a scientific journal...

Not that great community service: 100+ (tutoring, Teen Court, and Summer Reading at hometown library)

I am the website committee head of HOPE.

Various minor positions at my old high school.

Various UIL/competition placements in old high school years.

Second Dan black belt in Tae Kwon Do (6+ years).

Recommendations should be pretty good.

Essays should be really good.

I plan on making a Rubik's Cube Club (err, rather, just a puzzle/logic club)

I went to EPGY 2004 (was accepted 2005, but decided not to go due to transition of schools/etc)

Interesting in the following schools (pseudorandom order)

University of California at Berkeley
Columbia University (SEAS/Fu)
California Institute of Technology
University of Texas at Austin
Rice University
Stanford University
Cornell University
(Massachusetts Institute of Technology)

I really want to go to California Institute of Technology, but since I think I really have no chance, I think I am going to do ED at Columbia University (SEAS/Fu). If you have any suggestions, please note. Thank you

I plan on double majoring in (undecided: computer science, general, physics) engineering or information technology and mathematics.

If you need any more information, please ask. Thank you for your time, and sorry for the poor organization of material.

Signing off...

TheEvenPrime2

TheEvenPrime2:

UCB: Slight Reach (out of state, Engineering)

so if ur chinese why is your thread title in japanese?

Yes, I'd like to know that as well. =P Trilingual? I'd say you're in for UT Austin..

Heh, I knew someone was going to ask that. I actually cannot speak Chinese or Japanese fluently. I know more Chinese (Mandarin) than Japanese, but I am an anime/manga freak (otaku) so I pick up some things and just wanted to put some Japanese on here.
^_~

Anyone else have ideas (bump)?

The big red fox jumped over the lazy brown dog.
BUMP

Oh yeah, I forgot to add that I have worked off and on at my parent's restaurant since the seventh grade. Duties have included washing dishes, bus boy, waiter, cash register operator, and manager. Before I went to TAMS, I worked at least 5 hours a week. This summer I work off and on, with around 5 hours every other week.

=(
BUMP, anyone?

Meh, okay, so nobody can tell me my chances...

maybe next time you should choose an english title

/and sorry i can't help you out with the chances. i'm in a similar position as you are: confused

Hmm yeah, I thought that might happen...
This message is acting like a BUMP, but I will add a few more details mainly pertaining to the "various competitions" I did in high school:

I did JCL as well and placed within top 10 in Area in the subjects in which I competed but had conflicts with UIL so I never went to State.

member of mathematics and computer science teams, both of them made it to regionals. At regionals, our computer science team placed first in programming and second overall.

made it to regionals in ready writing

went to some debate tournaments, not much there.

won TAGT scholarship, which I used for EPGY 2004.

was in county model United Nations club (not related to school); it just started and I never went to any competitions due to conflicts.

various school awards

Who's Who award (not that it means anything)

Finally I just want to add that I worked as an instructor's assistant for Tae Kwon Do for about 3 years.

Okay, hopefully, more people can post some chances. Otherwise, I will wait a little bit and repost under a different title...

Thanks for reading anyways.

Chances aren't that bad for Caltech.

Ah, heh thanks. I am really worried about SAT and GPA. Those B's were really disappointing.

Haha, sorry I can't really help you with your chances, but I took Japanese for four years and felt compelled to make a comment.

gambatte kudasai.

I'm not going to say that your chances are very excellent, but I think they're good and that you shouldn't rule out Caltech for EA. You have a pretty rigorous courseload, which would help compensate for the Bs. Also, research is VERY good for Caltech. You might want to consider entering your research in Intel STS and/or Siemens-Westinghouse.

Oh, and your chances for CalTech are reach at best.

Thank you for the comments. =)
Same to you guys.

UCLAri, I have no clue what you wrote. My Japanese is pretty bad. Care to translate?
lol

I said, more or less, "I really hate otakus."

Sorry, I'm just rather misanthropic toward Japan-lovers in general.
