Top 15% in my school. (We don't do exact rank)

Please reply and help me. If necessary I can get more info (specific grades, more info about my school, etc.)

You definitely have the numbers! Write a good essay and if you have good recommendations you have a great chance!Do well next year and try to get into the top10%. Best of luck!

You stand a very good chance of getting accepted to Pomona. What other schools interest you?

amherst brown carnegie mellon dartmouth haverford lehigh lafayette usc stanford

Lots of different schools, including safeties, in the mix which is good. Guess it'll come down to your ranking the schools in terms of which ones you like the most.

Best of luck with your apps!

you have a good chance at most of the schools, maybe except stanford who I think has an erratic admissions policy. but i think you're pretty much in at pomona, provided that you have the essays. are you visiting calif. any time soon? I really really recommend the interview, esp. since you're out of state. b/c you're so far away, 1) pomona loves diversity, inc. us geographic diversity 2) that fact that you'll be coming all the way from new jersey shows how much you love pomona. Pomona I think bases some part of their admissions on your enthusiasm and desire to go to their school. Going to that interview I think will really impress them. Also see if any Pomona reps come by your school.

If you can't do an oncampus interview, you should still do an alumni local interview at least.

Good luck, and congrats on the good resume.

i visited in february but i was just looking at the campus and finding out more about the school, i wasn't sure that i would want to apply yet. will that help at all?

pomona reps come by my school as a couple of them are graduates of my school. i spoke to one briefly last fall.

how do i set up an alumni local interview?

Check out the information at http://www.pomona.edu/adwr/admissions/Visiting/Visiting.shtml#ALUMNI%20INTERVIEWS. Do it sooner rather than later since interviewer slots do get filled.

Good luck!

do you have an application to Pomona College yet? If not, you should get one by emailing or mailing the admissions office for a paper app. OR since you're applying to a lot of private colleges, perhaps you should use something called the Common Application, which allows you to fill out one application to apply for many privates school that subscribe to the Common Application. Pomona will want you to fill out some supplemental information to that application.

With the paper application they mail to you you'll get an information sheet about interviews and how to sign up for either on-campus ones or local alumni ones.

Talking to those reps is really good idea, esp. staying in contact with them so you can ask them ?s about the application process or the school, and also to keep your name and enthusiasm for Pomona in their minds. How close are you to the Pomona alumni that went to your high school? If you are very very close to them, maybe they can write letters of rec for you. Who knows? They might be the local alumni that eventually interview you.

and I agree with Little Mother. I almost lost my interview time when I signed up for it November, b/c you have to sign up weeks before your interview. Sign up asap, even before you submit your Part I.

My son interviewed locally and did not visit until admitted students day. Initially he visited jr year at CMC and only decided senior year to add Pomona due to a change in his major. He thought he was going for political science so was initially attracted to CMC. This did not hurt his chances at all. Best of luck!

D also interviewed with an alum interviewer in the area. In some places, there may be more interviewees than interviewers, so slots may be limited depending on interviewers' availability.

Are there reps for different states? and how do you contact them?

and out of curiousity .. do a lot of people from Georgia apply? I'm having a hard time learning about pomona because nobody here knows what it is .. and i won't be able to visit

When you request an alum interview, the Admissions Office will assign someone and that person will contact you directly.

Good luck!

YOUR CHOICES :amherst brown carnegie mellon dartmouth haverford lehigh lafayette usc stanford

Have you ever thought about the midwest? LAC's there would love to have you apply: Grinnell, U Chicago, Carleton, Macalester. And, they would throw money your way.

And what about?: Swarthmore, Williams, Davidson, Rice, Colby, Bowdoin

And then of course: what exactly is your safety? Just in case all havoc occurs and for some unforeseen reason, those schools don't open their doors or whatever to you.

i looked at swarthmore and williams and didn't really like them. i've vacationed in maine and absolutely hated it so i ruled out colby and bowdoin. i didn't like the study study study attitude of u chicago. i didn't really look at grinnell, carleton, macalester, davidson, or rice.

my counselor assured me that lehigh and lafayette would be safeties for me and usc would be close to one.

Carleton only gives small merit scholarships if you are NMF.
