chances?

<p>Ok so i'm new to this site and im just wowed.....im wondering whether to even post this but here it goes....</p>

<p>Maryland Resident</p>

<p>GPA : 3.714 unweighted......weighted is over 4.0 but i dont remember exactly
(it would be like a 3.8 or higher but slight dip sophemore year...but i brought it back up)</p>

<p>Because of Sopehmore year my UM GPA is a 3.3</p>

<p>Hardest Possible Courseload</p>

<p>Rank: top 8% of 234 students (rank is by weighted GPA)...competitve private school also</p>

<p>ACT :29 (equals a 1920 SAT)</p>

<p>Extracurricular Activities</p>

<p>-Diversity Awareness Club- President</p>

<p>-Spanish Club- President</p>

<p>-150 hrs of community service- tutoring children</p>

<p>-Work at grocery store -15hrs/week during school year ( I hope that counts for something)</p>

<p>-Summer internship-IRS 40hrs a week for 10 weeks</p>

<p>-a couple of summer programs</p>

<p>-I served on my school's board which was like a 3 yr process</p>

<p>-yearbook club</p>

<p>Ive done a couple of other things but you get the picture.</p>

<p>-also i'm in an accelerated program where I get a scholarship to my HS</p>

<p>Do not try to convert the ACT score into an SAT score. In general a student that scores a 29 on the ACT scores well over 1300 on the SAT. At any rate, your unweighed GPA and ACT scores are right around the Michigan mean, which makes Michigan a match. However, given the fact that you are an URM, I'd say Michigan is a safe match.</p>

<p>Because of the sheer volume of applicants in the last couple of years, Michigan's response time has been slower. I'd say you will probably hear back by mid December. Your only achilles heel is your unweighed GPA. 3.3 will hurt you a little bit. However, your class rank and ACT will make up for it and your URM status will help.</p>
