Chances

I want input on my chances for getting in RD
I graduated last year, and am taking a year off. I moved across the country from California to New York to take a Pastry Arts program at the French Culinary Institute. Here are my basic stats
GPA (unweighted) 3.85. My school doesn't weight, but I took the hardest courseload available
SAT I's: 2310 (800 W, 790 M, 720 CR)
SAT II's: 800 Math IIC, 770 US History
AP's: 5's in BC Calculus, US History, English Lit, Psychology, and German
Essay: About my dad's death, and the effect it has had on me. Also, and essay about taking a year off and why I chose to do what I am doing
Recs: From my math teacher, an English teacher who worked with me in theater and movies out of school, and my other English teacher who was also my counselor. I may also submit a supplementary one from one of my chef instructors
EC's: Women's A Capella advanced vocals (grades 9-11)
Madrigals advanced vocals (12- this and the last one are groups that are after school, but for which you get credit. You have to audition for them)
"Heartbeats" self-formed quartet (10-12) We hired ourselves out for private events, and were very well received, so we made a CD last summer
Mock Trial (10)
Theater (9-12) Lots, and lots, and lots of participation in shows

Awards: National Merit Scholarship, Junior Book Award (given to 4 juniors out of a class of about 400), various department awards, 2 different choir scholarships
Miscellaneous: I applied to Princeton RD last year, and was not accepted, and I don't know how this will affect my application. My expected major is archaeology, which I think is fairly rare.
I know it's silly to even bother to access anyone's chances at getting in, but I am interested for any input anyone can give- does anyone know anyone in a similar situation in terms of reapplying?

You are very special in terms of your personal status....very, very unique character. I say you have a great chance! Good Luck!

princeton's earlier decision will affect your application IMO... unless, of course, there has been a phenomenal change in your profile...

btw, have you taken only 2 subject SATs?

I took a chem one my sophomore year and did not as well as I would have liked- 690. I forget to mention that one often, just because I wasn't as pleased with it as the others. They will see it, though. My stats haven't changed from last year, except that I got a 4.0 my last semester senior year (I brought my grade in BC calc from a B to an A), and I found out about being a National Merit Scholar. Other than that, I just have the interest of the culinary school to boost my application.

I don't know about the re-applying.. I don't think it should make THAT big of a difference...

hmmm, did you just CHOOSE not go to college last year? were you really that intent on P'ton? or did you just not get in anywhere?

btw, i think P'ton likes theatre ppl. surprised u didn't get in last year. were ur SAT scores the same last year, or did you improve?

No, I just took the SAT's once. And I always intended on taking a year off to go to culinary school. I applied to schools last year just in case I got into a top choice school. I didn't, so I deferred elsewhere and am reapplying this year.
