ESSAYS/RECS:
- for my EA school, i wrote one of my essays on how my neighbor from when i was little influenced my thinking. it's kind of funny actually, because i always thought she was a witch or something until she started babysitting for my mom. I wrote my other essay on how being separated from my father(he lives in Seoul, Korea for work) has affected me and my family. For my short essay, i wrote about my experience as a horseback rider. another one of the essays that i wrote for Michigan was about how i've always wanted to be a veterinarian since i was 5 years. old.
- i got my recommendations from teachers i knew last year (my IB Math SL teacher and my IB Biology SL teacher) and i know they are good because i had very good, close relationships with those teachers. for my GC recommendation, he told me he'd write about my family situation and how i overcame it, my passion for family and my passion for horseback riding (he told me this because we had a short semi-interview where he got to know me better)

so ok, finally these are the schools that i'm interested in
1. Harvard SCEA (already applied, so it doesn't really matter)
2. Stanford (my first choice school)
3. U Penn (my second choice shcol)
4. Columbia (my third choice school)
5. UVA
6. University of Michigan (already applied rolling)
7. UC Berkeley, UCLA, UCSD (already applied)
8. William and Mary
9. Cornell (CALS)
10. Carnegie Mellon

thanks, and i really appreciate your input :D
oh, and i'm submitting my stanford app this week.
and i forgot to add that i'm interested in studying biology/chemistry/animal science (depending on the school).

bump? (10 char)

BUMP again?

BUMP...
can someone help me?
i don't even know why i'm doing this, i guess i was bored.

tuff enough. you have a decent chance at all schools like 15% for the top ivies, which is pretty good. Probably get into one of the top schools and all of the less top schools on the list.

just curious, are you girl or boy? if girl, hot or not?

well does it really matter...
thanks for your input though.

Your EC's show dedication and you have solid stats. I would say you have a pretty good shot at them all (but these are Ivies we are talking about, and chances are prone to fluctuate).

Good luck!

thanks for the input. i've gotten the comment before that my EC's are weak, probably because i haven't won any national/state awards or anything...but i do think they show dedication, because i've been doing them since i was 5 or 9 years old...i really appreciate your input.

No problem. They are all focused, provided you do go into animal science (I'm not too much of a help on the rest...I'm a liberal arts girl: the exact opposite of what most people expect :P).

Even if you do not get into your top choices, think about it. At least you enjoyed your EC's. I am personally envious you had these chances. I volunteer at the Humane Society and I know scooping poop to become a Dog Handler/Socializer is messy work.

Scrolling up, I didn't notice your UC's before. Your stats are higher than mine so I would note your chances for UCB, UCSD, and UCLA as all safe matches.

yeah i love working with animals. i've always wanted to be a vet since i was 5.

so, anyone else have input?
BUMP

Which of those is your safety? I know you did pretty well, but it's pretty gutsy to use your two state schools which are two of the best as your safety. Even UMich is crazy.

i can't really think of any safeties that i would actually consider going to. the only one i can think of is Virginia Tech...but even that's not really high up on my list...i guess i'll apply anyway, it only takes like 30 minutes to apply from what i've heard. my counselor said that he thinks UVA/W&M is a safety for me however, so i don't know. from what i've seen from the kids who got in last year/this year, i think i'm like 95% certain i'll get into UVA, me being instate and all.

specifically, what are my chances at Stanford (my top choice)?

I think not having a true safety is a silly choice.

as i mentioned before, i will be applying to V Tech. and there is no way in the world that i'm applying to JMU, GMU, VCU, etc. i would NEVER consider going there. W&M, UVA, VTech are about the only state schools in Va that i can stand.

as for other people, anyone else have input?
BUMP

What's wrong with Madison?

horrible campus

horrible food

party school reputation

not enough name recognition for me, as arrogant as that sounds

too many people there from my school whom i do not want to see EVER

parents do not want me to waste my money to apply/attend

the only schools i like in Va are UVA, W&M, and V Tech. the others, i do not think are really worth going to, because i think i can dream for much higher. i actually really like UVA, so that's up on the list for me.

He's too serious of a student for JMU. I say he's in William and Mary. Tech has a great Vet school.

JMU has the best food in the state. One of the tops in the country. He sounds too arrogant for William and Mary though.

UCB/UCLA: Match (out of state)
UCSD: Safe Match (out of state)
