1870 out of 2400. Verbal 620 and Math 660 on SAT I
500 on SAT II U.S History
Took SAT II MATH I
3.3 weighted GPA
MY grades frst quarter as a senior are a mixture of mostly D's and C's with one or two B's and of course an A in gym ahaha. I have 7 classes btw
but this is because from 4 honors classes I jumped to 3 Honors and 2 AP's. I'm having a hard time getting by. Im hoping colleges will see I'm challenging myself. But I'm afraid they might think I was careless. BTW 2nd quarter my grades have gotten better. No D's~!

My guidance counselor told me she wouldn't send my 1st quarter grades unless they ask for it after she sends the transcript and then add an explanation along with my 2nd quarter and midterm grades.

My EC. I dont have alot
Volunteered at Boston marathon
Film Club
vacation bible school
stock club
JSA
Anatomy club
Drama club

writer's block

First generation college student

Other Colleges I'm looking at:
Boston UNiversity-COM
Syracuse University-SVA
Ithaca College - Roy H. Park School of Communications
Ohio University (Athens) - School of Visual Comunication
NYU - Tisch:Kanbar

So...uh....

I think Emerson, Ithaca, and Syracuse may be viable options. NYU and BU are probably reaches. I'm not sure about Ohio University.

Best of luck. Just remember that regardless of collegeboard stats for entrance, its ALWAYS going to be much harder to get into the film program.

Apply to all of them still. You never know.

Tyler

I think it depends what you apply into.
Your GPA is the same as mine, and your SATs are a wee bit lower, and i got deferred.
And i always hear things about a rigourous courseload, and such, but i'm in all AP classes except for gym...yeah.

If you're going into film or theatre, a lot of your decision will be talent-based, though.

Just really try to get your senior grades up. And submit creative work.

yup yup I'm going in for film.

well still havent heard from emerson getting very nervous

Your SAT is lower than mine and my GPA is higher than yours and I got deferred. I think that Ithaca will be a match and Emerson may be a slight match, it all depends. As for BU I'd say that applying to COM with those stats you may be at a disadvantage, it's generally one of the more competitive schools at BU. You'd have a good shot at CGS if you really want to go there, then you could transfer to COM after two years.

what is your submission for film? is there anyway you can put it on youtube or something? but honestly unless you have a completely AMAZING submission you should really work on your GPA. i was accepted for film and my GPA unweighted is about 3.7 and my SAT scores were 1930 out of 2400, but my ACT scores were higher-30 out of 36. i also have a lot of ECs, but I would mainly say don't focus so much on those but rather your grades, essay, and submission.

Your SATs seem pretty good for Emerson standards, but your GPA, I think, is entirely too low. I think colleges would rather see decent grades in non-honors/AP classes than horrible grades in accelerated classes. A 3.3 weighted, I think, would tip the scale out of your favor. Your extracurriculars aren't great (more out of school stuff is needed), but I think it wouldn't make a big difference in the long run, had your GPA been better.

Speaking of chances....

My SAT: Critical Reading- 690 Math- 630 Writing 710
GPA: 3.34 unweighted (my h.s. doesn't weight grades)

11 Honors/ AP courses.

Lots of EC stuff... i wont list. but substancial amount.

I was thinking it was a mtach... but then i really skrewed up second quarter and ended up getting a D and a C- with the rest A's and B's.

Have I totally destroyed my chances? Should I write a letter to Emerson becuase this is an anomaly?
