School Profile: My school is always ranked in Newsweek's "Most Challenging", and is second-best in the DC metro area.

The volleyball coach as told me that I am her top recruit, if this aids me in any way. I do have a few blemishes on my transcript (C's); however, I have a very strong course-load, and my volleyball takes up about 19 hrs of my week...that's without travel to several tournaments throughout the nation. I think my essays are interesting, and reflect my unique, rather diverse upbringing. I have visited, stayed overnight, but did not have an interview.

WHAT ARE MY CHANCES?:)

I'd say that your chances are very good. First of all, you have some very interesting life experiences and extracurriculars that will play well at Swarthmore.

Second, being at the top of any coach's recruiting list can be a BIG plus in admissions. This is especially true because Swarthmore is not using up the lion's share of athletic admits on football and men's ice hockey.

If Swarthmore is your first choice, you should communicate that to the coach. He or she will go to bat harder for a top recruit who actually plans to enroll.

BTW, athletic recruiting at Swarthmore is allocated 15% of the slots in the freshman class (about 65 students). It's a dance between the athletic department and the admissions office to determine which recruits are "admittable", meaning a certain level of academic achievement and an overall good fit with Swarthmore. Once they've agreed on that list, the athletic "tip" carries a lot of weight.

Based on what you've written, I would say that you are certainly "admittable".

i'd do all but guarantee admission with your stats and recruit status.

and her essay is quite beautiful too
