Chances??

specifically, changes for business/management
Canadian Citizen in BC

I took a shot at US schools but ended up horribly on the SAT reasoning test, so now I'm wondering what are my chances of getting in McGill?? appearently, there arent that much solid information on it and most seem to fluctuate alot...

92-ish average, possible higher if i can retake English in time
SAT I: 600CR;600W;790M
SAT II: 800Mandarin; 780Math II;770 Physics
APs: Calculus BC/AB subscore - 5
Physics B - 5
(finishing highschool with 5 ap courses, and possibly 6/7 tests)

I realize that a score of 5 on AP can be translated in to 96% for U of T and UBC, so im wondering if i could do the same for McGill (dont see it anywhere on their website, so i suppose no?)

Does it help if one's semi-fluent in french, cause i have like 90% in French 12 Hon (thinking of taking the AP probably get a 4 or 5 if i fluke out)

One last thing, I still cant believe why more and more us citizens are applying for McGill when they hold so much privilege in applying for their prestigious schools (Berkley, Michigan, and of course, Ivies). Anyone here care to enlighten me??

Bump*

sry, but anyone??

Which faculty are you applying for? I think you're in for Arts, but I can't speak for the other faculties.

Your average is pretty high - you'll probably get in without much of a hassle.

McGill doesn't require Canadians living in Canada to submit SATs. Your AP classes will be good though for letting you skip a few classes your first and second years.

Having French skills won't really give that much of an advantage at McGill, since it is an Anglophone university, but of course it will help you better assimilate into the wider community in Montreal.

As to why Americans want to go to McGill, there's a wide variety of reasons. It's much cheaper than many private schools (and more than a few of the public ones) in the US. Also, University is the time of our lives when we expose ourselves to new things and ideas. Going to McGill...it's definately different from life in the US, but at the same time, it's not so foreign as to be overwhelming.

I had a 4.0 GPA (was like 94ish) I got in no problem. I had no IB, no AP, no honors classes (we didnt have them) but I took 7 provs in senior year. So, you should be in for sure. A 92 avg and a few AP's will get you in. Dont submit your SAT scores though! They dont need them for Canadians and unless they are steller (like 2300+) whats the point? I had a 2190 on the SAT and I didnt submit them either.

for what its worth...your sat's aren't bad at all.

a 1390(m+v) which is all that really mattes is good enough to get you into most schools. Unless you're shooting for ivies and beyond.
