So I applied RD and am still wondering what my chances are for getting in. I have a:

3.7 unweighted GPA
SAT I: 700 math, 600 verbal, 680 writing
SAT II: 700 math 2, 660 US History
4 years Varsity Tennis (captain last 2 years)
1 year JV/Varsity Basketball (won sectionals)
1 year Varisty Baseball (helped start the first year of the team)
2 years Student Council
Spent last summer in Spain in fluency program living with a family for 7 weeks
5 AP classes
Even had a UNC allum write my recomendation (my English teacher)

So I know I'll be waiting another month or two before I hear back from the school but what are my chances?

Also a part of the Science National Honor Society. My school is a very small competitive, college prep school. All regular classes are compared to be as hard or harder than honors classes at public schools.

it all depends on your essays. i read somewhere that, unlike most public schools, unc chapel hill has a very large admissions staff who take into account essays heavily in admission since they have time to read the applications thoroughly. i think the essay importance holds especially for out of state students. the same book also said that the avg. sat for out of state was 1340, and you're slightly under there. i think that if your essays stood out and were well written you have a definite shot to go over the top because your sports EC's are great along and your course rigor seems sufficient with 5 ap's. Good Luck!

honestly, i think unc is a reach for you, of course you still have a chance to get in...your stats are good, just on the lower end for those who apply out of state (but still in range). Like the person before, make sure your essays are unique and really good and hopefully that will give you a boost
