Chances?

ACT: 34 (31 English, 35 Math, 36 Science, 33 reading)
SAT: 800 M 740 CR 710 W

SAT II 800 MII, 790 Physics

Nat'l AP Scholar
AIME 5/15
Nat'l Chem Olympiad Finalist
....some other ones...

EC's: Chess Club President, FRC Team President...other significant ones...

I applied to CS: my essay was about programming our FIRST robot, but nowhere else on my app did I express my interest in programming. This might have been a mistake?

I also want to play chess for CMU, but I didnt write that in my application...

Not writing about your interest in programming could be a mistake. Your credentials are good... how about some class rank/GPA info?

I'm not sure, but you might be able to submit a supplemental page of information, but I think that might only be for deferred students.

GPA: 4.2-ish. Not in top 10 percent (thats like 2 kids) 27 person classs.

I am sure you aware, but no one on this board can accurately and discerningly assess your admission chances. There are too many factors to consider; quite a few of which we are not even privy to. If you haven't visited the site though, here are some statistics for the School of Computer Science:

Applied 1,912 Admitted 409 Enrolled 141 CR 650-750 M 720-800 Rank 4% GPA 3.77

Good Luck,
fellow applicant

Are you 27th? or 5th?

actually im 4th, 5th, or sixth...

Don't worry about not mentioning about programming too much...some of the freshmen have never had programming experience before coming here. I did have a little programming experience, but I didn't write it anywhere on my application.

Your stats are very solid. Even though CS is a very competitive department at CMU, I would question admission office if you do not get in.
