<p>karan is partially correct that it's insane how many extremely average (below average in fact) kids from HK and a few other east asian nations get letters of acceptance. i can't explain why, maybe it's short-term push to attract international customers (who pay more and get no aid) so word of mouth gets out that this is the place for below-par rich kids' to go. i suppose it is like usc's main strategy a decade or so ago with american kids (and it still goes on today though obviously the reputation has improved somewhat).</p>
<p>however, i think in the op's case, it is tough tos ay because american kids unless they are truly connected don't have an easy way in. but it is not massive reach by any means.</p>
