Chances?

Hey all, I've already sent in all my applications but I was still wondering how I may do...I'm a Pakistani student in Texas at a Newsweek Top 100 High School

UW GPA: 3.4
W GPA: 4.2
UC GPA: 3.8

SAT: 1500 / 2110
ACT: 31
SAT II: 750 Math II, 740 Physics, 650 Biology E

Rank: 110/550 (Top 20%)
I've taken all the hardest courses possible, 10 APs total by the time I graduate

I think my essays are pretty good, my main essay was about dealing with my cousin being kidnapped and having to go through the entire trauma of the kidnappers asking for a ransom, trying to communicate with the rest of my family (throughout the world) to try and get everything figured out, and eventually having soldiers from the army save him (he's ok now!). The rest of my essays should be at least decent. A NYU specific one was very well received by whoever I showed it to so I guess that is good.

Awards:

National Merit Commended, AP Honor with Distinction, National Latin Exam Maxima Cum Laude

ECs:

I think they're above average, they include over 300 hours of leadership activities, another 100 of religious community service, Relay for Life, and some other stuff like NHS, Mu Alpha Theta, and some school clubs.

Oh, and some further clarification: I'm applying with Neuroscience as my first choice major and Business as my second choice. And also for recs I have a teacher with a PhD who knows me pretty well write mine for me.

I know my UW GPA and rank are awfully low but I'm hoping I still have a shot...thanks in advance!

UCSD: Match/Slight Reach

GPA: decent, not horrible
SAT: not bad
Awards: good
EC's: decent to good

You have a unique essay topic, but from what it looks like, it doesn't say much about you.

UC's don't take recs, so that doesn't help you.

i would say its a slight reach

being out of state is going to hurt you.

i think slight reach.

I'm going to go say match... I'm pretty sure your test scores (your two highest SAT IIs are pretty good) will be enough to cover the slightly lower than average GPA. They don't take rank into account for UCSD so that won't matter. The fact that you're OOS will hurt though, but I'm still pretty sure you'll get in.

i'm gonna say match too...i think u have a good shot, but yeah being an oos will hurt a little, so maybe match/slight reach

Match, great SAT and SAT II scores with a very strong UC GPA. Excellent EC's. You loose about 300 points for OOS, but have enough to make them up in other areas, good luck.

slight reach? more like slight back-up, i hope you're applying to cal+ucla

I'd agree if the poster was in state, but he/she is OOS.
