Chances?

Hey all, I've already sent in all my applications but I was still wondering how I may do...I'm a Pakistani student in Texas at a Newsweek Top 100 High School

UW GPA: 3.4
W GPA: 4.2

SAT: 1500 / 2110
ACT: 31
SAT II: 750 Math II, 740 Physics, 650 Biology E

Rank: 110/550 (Top 20%)
I've taken all the hardest courses possible, 10 APs total by the time I graduate

I think my essays are pretty good, my main essay was about dealing with my cousin being kidnapped and having to go through the entire trauma of the kidnappers asking for a ransom, trying to communicate with the rest of my family (throughout the world) to try and get everything figured out, and eventually having soldiers from the army save him (he's ok now!). The rest of my essays should be at least decent. A NYU specific one was very well received by whoever I showed it to so I guess that is good.

Awards:

National Merit Commended, AP Honor with Distinction, National Latin Exam Maxima Cum Laude

ECs:

I think they're above average, they include over 300 hours of leadership activities, another 100 of religious community service, Relay for Life, and some other stuff like NHS, Mu Alpha Theta, and some school clubs.

Oh, and some further clarification: I'm applying with Neuroscience as my first choice major and Business as my second choice. And also for recs I have a teacher with a PhD who knows me pretty well write mine for me.

I know my UW GPA and rank are awfully low but I'm hoping I still have a shot...thanks in advance!

median unweighted gpa was 3.85 for 2006 and median sat was 2160 for 2006 =D here you can predict yourself gl!
edit: stats is not everything =D

median unweighted gpa was 3.85? that sounds a little high to me...where did this come from? i would have thought 3.7 ish.

http://hopkins.typepad.com/hopkins_insider/2006/04/index.html
stats is not everything, according to several sites, jhu ranks rec letters and personal statements up to tier w/ sats and gpa

just a little curious, does jhu count freshman year as part of your gpa, and do they every weigh your gpa when you apply?

i know they do not weigh your gpa but they take your course rigor under consideration atleast according to one admission officer

what about freshman year? do they include it?

most schools either completely ignore freshmen year or look at it much much much less than soph and junior grades and possibly senior midyear if applying reg dec

^ not like the above really matters anyways...jhu uses a holistic approach so stats is only part of the game =D

smirf because this is your chance thread, still apply i want to emphasize that median is MEDIAN!!!...meaning MANY students w/ a 3.4 unweighted have gotten in before gl!
edit: emphasize on many again
