chances :)

Hi.. I am a junior.. in the IB program .. I really hate the thought of posting in the "What are my chances?!?!?" thread, but I am quite curious as to where all of you college experts think I am capable of getting into.. ..because I am so unsure of it myself.. and advice would help!

9th grade

Eng I H A A
Bio H A A
Spanish II A A
World Hist H A A
PE A A
Geo/Trig H A A

I didn't do any community service this year !
All I did was like... 6 hours of dance per week...
i know.. not great..

10th grade

Eng II H A A
Art I A A
Theatre I A A
Algebra II H A A
CHem I H A A
Spanish III A A

I began volunteering about 3 hours per week at the JCC (Jewish Community Center.. cute, eh?)
Also I joined Keystone.. which, if you don't know, is a community service organization for teens run through the Boys and Girls Club.. I wasn't too active in the club though. I was also in Key Club. I took about 3 hours of dance per week.
Not too impressive either.

11th grade (THE IB YEAR)
IB Eng III A
American History AP A
IB Chem HL B
IB Spanish SL A
IB Math SL A
IB History A
(most academically difficult year of my life!)

I am more involved with keystone, doing a lot with the Boys and Girls Club.. I volunteer at their snack bar, organize Family Fun Nights and Lock-Ins, do service things through Keystone, etc.. I am an editor of my school's literary magazine.. I'm in SHS and NHS.. STAND (A Student Anti-genocide Coalition)
I think I've done about 90ish hours of service, thus far.. (75 per year is required by CAS- Creativity/Action/Service, for IB)

I've been a three-year member of Sultans of Rock ;) .. i take pictures for them at their events..

My Academic plans for Senior year..

I will take regular Gov/Econ this summer..

during the year:
IB Eng IV
IB History
IB Chem HL
Statistics AP
IB Theatre SL
IB Theory of Knowledge

Oh, I nearly forgot.. my SAT scores.. (the worst part..)
I took it for the first time a few weeks ago.. No practice yet except for the PSAT... so I suppose there is still hope.

Math- 650
Reading- 640
Writing- 630

I was hoping to do better in writing :(
sorry if this was a smidge long..

I'd like to major in either business, political science, musicology, or film studies..

I want to get into UCLA.. I live in Arizona.. but in the SUSD district (AKA the good one.)

is it possible?

if not, do you have any suggestions to make my transcript more impressive? or of other schools to look into?

You have a reasonable shot, 50/50 at LA. Are you sure you want to pay $40K as an OOS student? Same price at a lot of privates where you can actually get the classes you want and more easily graduate in 4 years.

well, my parents are planning to move into CA after I graduate, so really I would probably just take a loan out for the first year and the other 3 years would be manageable..

bummmp

:)

man IB Chem HL ruined your valedictorianship but with your grades and your eventual boost of SAT scores to at least a 1950 you'll be in gl with the money though

my school doesn't do valedictorianship

:)

onthebound:

UCLA: Reach (out of state)
