Chances?

I posted this on Chances and Transfer thread too... >_>

I submitted my application 1/20/07, and was completed 2/5/07

I should hear back in mid to late March. That being said, I'm leaving for the weekend, and I just want to hopefully put my mind to rest. I'm gonna have a feeling that I'll be deferred but anyway... last time I post a chance thread. I might bump it once or twice if it doesn't get a response.

I'm an Instate Resident, but that doesn't play any role in Transfers apprently. I go to WMU, which is a Tier2/Tier3 school. All my classes are hardest possible, ranging from 2000 to 3000 level classes, and advanced math to show I can take hard classes and succeed at time.

Applying for: Fall 2007 - LS&A
HS GPA: 2.9 UW
University of Michigan Weighted GPA: 2.75
ACT: 26
College GPA: 4.0 (16 credits)
College GPA: 3.88 (33 credits at time of transfer) - that's my predicted GPA
EC: Violinist - 8 years, section leader, state orchestra, toured across Europe with my Chamber Orchestra
Internship in China; Hong Kong and Shenzhen in particular last summer. Was a translator / junior architect.
Tennis JV
Key Club: 100~ hours

Possible Hook: I'm multi-cultured, and know how to speak six languages, and speak + write in three.

Recs: It was a recommendation from my Microeconomics teacher. In a class of roughly 60, I was one of 3 A's in his class, so it should be good.

Essays: I've heard they were pretty decent to great. They detail why I'm a good student, my educational background and my turnaround from HS --> College, and the reasons for my low HS GPA

Circumstances: My mother was diagnosed with a mental illness when I was very young, I had to take care of her alone at the age of 8 --> 18. When I was 16, I had to take care of my little brother as well. So balancing 30~ hours of Orchestra, school, and family was kinda hard, hence why my HS grades suffered. All detailed in essay.

I don't know much about transfer acceptance rates, but I'm definitely pulling for you and think a 4.0 with those credits and classes will be hard to turn down. I hope everything works out for you man

Thanks for your support! I hope the adcoms feel the same way!

Are you a student? Or an aspiring? If the latter, I hope you get in as well!

Aspiring junior, and thanks a lot.

I really do not see how they could reject you.

You are applying as a sophomore so your high school grades are going to be somewhat important. Even though those grades aren't very good, I would still think you have a great shot at Mich.
