I think you would get in, but your ACT score is a little low compared to your other stats. Maybe you should take it again--I think with a higher ACT score and your stats, you would be in with a nice scholarship. My D had a 3.94 weighted GPA from a very competitive and well known midwestern high school and a 32 on her ACT. She got in to marquette and rec'd over $10,000 in merit aid.

Yeah what jah said about your act and sat scores. Are you applying next year or did you apply for fall? I applied and got waitlisted, Their really booked. I have a 1490 on mt SAT's out of 1600 and a 5.2 weighed gpa

i had a lower ACT score than you and got in...However my GPA is higher. anyways I think your other qualities make up for the score.

I am just a junior :)

Your scores are fine for Marquette which is not that competitive anyway ( sorry people, but true ) Make sure you visit the campus. It is in the most depressing and run down part of Milwaukee. A shame. I think that the Fathers have really let the school go down the drain in the last few years.

I have to disagree with MovieBuff. I not only live in Milwaukee, but also teach part time at Marquette, and one of my children will be attending in the Fall. This year's applications have been very competitive with over 16,000 and Marquette will only be enrolling 1800 freshman. Some of the specialty colleges have had to turn away many: 700 applicants for 80 openings.

"It is in the most depressing and run down part of Milwaukee." is simply not accurate. Years ago MovieBuff's statement may have applied, but not now! Like all urban campuses, the universities work hard at improving the environs. Marquette is no different. The whole area around Marquette has been improving with redevelopment occurring in all directions. In the past few years there has been new buildings on campus, ie. the new library and dental school. Landscaping has also improved with architectural changes that informs the public that you are on Marquette's campus. Plus the downtown, lakefront, and surrounding area has many new condos, restaurants, shopping, etc. More people are moving into the downtown area to live. Also, speaking of restaurants, Milwaukee has a phenomenal selection.

My students, both graduate and undergraduate, really love Marquette. Hope this helps you.

Yeah, I have great stats and I was waitlisted for the arts and sciences because they have no space.

I agree with butterflylady. To call Marquette's part of Milwaukee "the most depressing and rundown" is false.

Marquette has a nice urban campus imho.

Anyone who would say that MU has gone downhill recently was obviously not here in the sixties or seventies. The improvement in the facilities on campus and in the coherency of the campus from then to now -- and especially in the last dozen or so years -- is night and day. Marquette is not in an ideal location as it is hemmed in somewhat by freeways, but the campus itself has been upgraded marvelously and the surrounding neighborhood (through aggressive purchasing and management by the University) is improved also.

As far as urban campuses go, Marquette's is pretty nice. I did not go to Marquette but I have lived in Milwaukee most of my life and without question Marquette looks better today than it ever has.

dukiess, you should get in, although you might want to try to raise your test scores a bit. I was recently accepted at Marquette with a scholarship and I got a 1880 on the SAT (and a 25 on the ACT, but I didn't send that in), I have something like a 3.7 unweighted gpa, I will have taken four AP classes, and I work on the tech crew in our theater, I am involved in a service club at my school, and I am an officer in two other clubs.
I recently visited Marquette and I loved it. The area of Milwaukee that it's in is fine, the campus is great, and everyone seems very friendly. They definately have school spirit (or at least my tour guides did) and love it there. The only thing for me would be adjusting to the cold, but that's not an issue for everyone.

Sorry to bring up an old post but did you get accepted? I’m applying in the fall and I was just wondering if I had a chance
