Hey guys, just looking for some "pro" insight :P

Male and currently a junior

want to be a physics major

GPA 4.0/4.0 uw
Class rank (as of now): (most likely, 1/420)

Have taken great classes and max AP's, and will graduate with about 12 AP's. Didnt take honors classes (our public school only offers english), bec/ i despise English.

SAT scores: 2100 (Math: 800, CR: 780, W: 520 {got a bad essay score and I didnt give a crap about writing}) May take them again in June, any suggestions?

Taking SAT II's in May with Calc, Bio, and History AP exams.

Recieved numerous awards and recognitions and have graet extracurriculur activities

Also captain the Academic quiz bowl and my tennis team as a junior :).

Colleges I want to apply to are selective few. I couldnt care about most "money-sucking" IVY's. I have 2 reaches, 2 matches (I think), and 1 safety.

Reaches: Caltech, MIT
Matches: Carnegie mellon, NYU
Safety: Local community college, eh!

yes, will surely apply to instate colleges, but I would really love to go to MIT and Caltech. I know I have a lot to offer them, but again, its anyone's game when it comes down to those colleges.

I am also thinking about U of Chicago. Seems like a great school. My brother goes to Duke (he had a 1290 SAT's!), but I dont like it there. Any suggestions for good/strong physics/engineering (electrical) programs?

Should I retake my SAT's? Dont want to if i dont have to =)

Yes, i can probably increase my score to 2300 +, or around there, but i dont think I will do that. I've recently been talking to people affiliated with Princeton university, and they think my stats are outstanding and worth admitting. They just dont know that I can care less about them (=p) So relatively, I think I'm fine, since colleges do not really put emphasis on writing, or atleast they wont for the class of '08.

I'm not certain about MIT, but I know Caltech doesn't care at all about your writing section score (or at worst, doesn't consider the essay).

Everything else looks pretty similar to those accepted at your choices, you just need to either find someway to make yourself stand out from the others that have similarly excellent applications.
