Chances????

<p>Hey guys- i hope you take the time to look at an aspiring junior's chances at Harvard</p>

<p>personal: Indian male-moved at the age of 7, middle-class family, large public competitive high school-want to major in economics/finance/engineering</p>

<p>academics: ranked 13/600 4.3 gpa
0 AP Soph (Only 1 offered), 2 AP classes Junior, 5 Projected AP classes Senior Year
3 SAT II (Projected score of 750-800)
1st time SAT-2200 (pretty sure i can get 2300)
PSAT-225-def got national merit for Texas</p>

<p>EC: Cross Country & Track JV since freshman year-maybe senior captain next year?
Taekwondo Black Belt- 4 years of time
Weightlifting - 2 years
started club called Asian Football League
Boys & Girls Club Advisory Commmitte (helped create one in city)
First National Bank Junior Board of Directors
Junior Leadership of Brazos Valley
Student Council member at large since freshman year
Math & Science Club since freshman year
Robotics Club-3 years-we were ranked in top ten of state for three years
BPA-1 year -made it to state
NHS-2 years
500 volunteering hours at habitat for humanity/library/working construction</p>

<p>2 really good rec and the rest are the normal good/hardworking
my school regularly sends people ranked between 10-20 to ivies</p>

<p>so what does it look like for me? and do yall have any advice?</p>

<p>It's hard to say. Your SAT scores are great, but it would be helpful for you to actually take the SAT II tests and then see the steps you'd have to take. If you're applying for economics, I'd make sure that stands out in your activities. You seem to be involved in a lot, but I say this again and again: quality is more important than quantity. I did one or two major things in high school and really focused on those in my application (I am a sophomore at Harvard). You don't have to jam-pack your application with tonnes of activities. They jumble into a huge mess and it's hard to really see what you're passionate about and could contribute to a college campus. You won't be able to do 10 things, for example, at Harvard, so the admissions committee is looking for one or two specific things you could contribute. Good luck!</p>
